Echinacea or Purple Coneflower is a flowering perennial plant in the sunflower family native to North America. Its habitat spreads across the great plains of Canada and the US. The medicinal part of E angustafolia is the roots which are typically harvested in the 3rd year.
The best extraction method for this plant is hydro alcoholic, which pulls out the many phenols and flavonoids which have been shown to increase antioxidant activity in organisms.
